How time flies! I apologize about how long it’s been since I’ve written a journal entry. It has been a very, very busy moment in my life! I will explain... First of all, I ended my professional volleyball season in Jesi, Italy and we finished second in the league. It was a very successful season for us, as the Italian League is such a competitive league! It also didn’t hurt that they actually paid me my entire contract ON TIME and IN FULL! I was very impressed with my club’s organization and seriousness. I will not return to play in Jesi next season, but I wish them the best. I still haven’t signed my contract for the next season, so I don’t know where I will be playing. More than likely, I will play either in Italy again or in Spain. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear something. I returned to Dallas almost immediately after my season was over. My brother, Steve, and his wife, Katie, were supposed to have a baby on the 14th of May, however she came a few days late and I arrived in time to see her born on the 19th. Her name is Grace Marie Aldrich and she is absolutely the cutest thing I have ever seen (spoken from a true aunt). She has been such a wonderful addition to our family. My vacation (if that's what you call it) in Dallas passed quickly before I had to report to Colorado Springs for the US National Volleyball Team on the 4th of June. I have been here for about two and a half weeks so far and it’s been relatively difficult for me so far. I injured myself on the very first day of practice. I strained BOTH quads and I have been out of commission for my first two weeks. I just started jumping a little bit a couple days ago, so I am hoping that I am on the rebound and I will be able to play full time in a few days. My team leaves for Puerto Rico in a few days, so I wish them the best of luck and I hope the US comes home with some big wins! So, that is pretty much what has happened in a nutshell. I am glad to be back in the US, but I will always miss Italy. It’s nice to be able to pass half the year in two different countries; however I am still looking forward to that day that I will be able to settle down in one place. I hope you are all doing well wherever you are and thanks so much for visiting my site! Erin |
